Rain, Rain...

Monday was Memorial Day and we spent the day at Layton's parents cabin which is up Provo Canyon.  It's close to the Provo River and we decided to take a nice little journey down the river.  The clouds were gathering in as we were driving up and a few minutes into the excursion, the rain started.  And then it was a complete downpour.  We were the only people floating down the river in our kayaks and the fly fishermen were all looking at us like we were a little bit crazy.  I'm pretty sure one guy was even laughing at one point.  I'm sure we looked a little crazy.  The rain was just pelting us and we were drenched.  I felt happy about it though in that moment to be with my husband and his brother just having this experience that isn't an every day thing.  I had a little bit of, okay, I'm kind of excited to get to the end moment, but I really enjoyed the trip overall.  The sun of course came out literally as soon as we finished, but I was glad that it had been a total down downpour while we were on there.  Thankfully there wasn't any lightening, that might have been a bit scary.

We also saw the play "Big Fish" this past weekend.  It's one of Layton's favorite movies and he was very excited to see the play.  It was actually a musical (but aren't all plays musicals??) and the music was very fun and the actors were wonderful.  They all had beautiful voices and brought the stories to life.  We saw it at The Hale Center Theater in Orem, which is an awesome place to see plays because the stage is so small and there's probably only about 150 seats in there.  No matter where you sit, you are close to the stage and can really see the actors up close and everything.  It's a very personal experience which I really enjoy.  There was even a real giant (like in the movie) okay well, he wasn't real, but it was crazy to see someone who could run on stilts.  We went to Pizzeria Seven Twelve afterwards with Layt's family and everyone ordered their own pizza which ended up being 10 pizzas haha.  We all shared and it was delicioso.  We all concur that restaurants must really love this family because we always order so much food :)

I had my second appointment with my doctor yesterday and I got to hear the heartbeat just right there with the dopplar.  He tried last time but the baby was too tiny.  We heard the heartbeat at the ultrasound a couple of weeks ago, but it was cool to just hear it right there with the little wand on my tummy.  Sometimes I have moments where I imagine having the baby (not like birthing it, but having it in my arms) and I think about it's nose or fingers and then I think "ohhh but that's so far away!  It's going to be so long before I get to see it!"  But I'm sure it's a good thing that it isn't done developing yet because I'm probably not really ready for it.  We watched my niece the other night while my sister and her husband went out to eat and that's probably what gets me the most excited, just being with her.  She is so adorable, and she is almost walking by herself.  She would crawl all over me and at one point be standing in front of me before launching herself into my face.  It was so adorable.  I am excited for those moments.
